Everything you need to get started.
Order your duck, make the promise, and give your family a tool that works before it is ever needed.
The promise is free.
The duck makes it real.
Any rubber duck will work. The duck itself is not magic — the promise is. But having a physical object that belongs to the ritual makes the promise feel real, and real things are easier to keep.
We recommend keeping one at home in a visible spot, and one in your teen's bag so the signal is available wherever they are.

Everything your family needs.
The Duck
A bright yellow rubber duck — the physical signal that makes the promise visible and real. Durable, portable, impossible to ignore.
The Family Pledge
A printed card with the full family promise — for parents and teens. Read it together, sign it if you want, and keep it somewhere visible.
The Parent Guide
A short guide on how to introduce the duck, what to say, and how to keep the promise when it is hardest to keep.
Read it together.
The pledge works best when the whole family reads it out loud — together, when no one is in trouble and everyone can think clearly.
The Promise
"In this family, whoever holds the duck needs support — no questions asked."
Parents agree to:
- Stay calm.
- Focus on safety first.
- Help solve the immediate problem.
- Delay consequences and lengthy discussions until emotions have settled.
- Remember that asking for help is the right decision.
Teens agree to:
- Be honest when ready to talk.
- Stop communicating with anyone involved if appropriate.
- Preserve evidence when possible.
- Accept help from trusted adults.
- Participate in follow-up conversations after the immediate crisis has passed.
"We promise to respond with calm, not consequences. With presence, not punishment. We will deal with the rest — together — when everyone is ready."
Help first.
Talk later.
